The
Storms of 200X is a collaborative charity
DVD project produced entirely by storm chasers around the world. Together,
these storm chasers pull together to help natural disaster ravaged
communities by donating video, images, expertise, and time to create a
charitable storm chasing DVD. All profits generated from the sales of these
DVDs go directly to the communities themselves or to major recognized
charitable organizations such as the American Red Cross for the purpose of
disaster recovery or disaster preparedness.
The Storms of 200X
project started in 2004. The organizers of this project, Greg Stumpf and Jim
Ladue, had heart felt remorse for those affected by the massive Indonesia
tsunami that killed over 130,000 people. The profits from the sales of the
Storms of 2004 went to the American Red Cross for direct help in that
region.
The Storms of 200X project continued, in the wake of Hurricane Katrina in
2005, with the release of the Storms of 2005. The profits from both the
Storms of 2004 and the newly released Storms of 2005 were donated to the
American Red Cross to help those along the Gulf Coast region.
Even though it was a quiet year for natural disasters, in 2006 the Storms
of 2006 was released adding a third exciting sequel to this charitable DVD
project raising even more money for those hard hit areas.
In 2007 one of the worst severe weather events in the United States since
May 3 1999 affected southwest Kansas. A gigantic 1.7 mile wide tornado
literally leveled the quiet town of Greensburg, KS. leaving this small
community devastated in its wake. This tornado went down in the history
books as the first EF5 tornado under the new tornado damage survey
guidelines.
Greensburg, KS is the focus of this year's project. Please help us help
the people of Greensburg, KS. Not only will you enjoy the DVD, you will
truly be helping those in this small community.
Please visit Greensburg's website for more information on their recovery
and, please, remember to come back to our site and purchase your DVD so that
we can help Greensburg, KS and other communities who may need it in the
future.
