Bill Hark has been chasing storms for 11 years across the Plains
and in the Mid-Atlantic. He learned the basics of chasing while on
Cloud 9 Tours in 1997 and was lucky enough to experience the 1997
Memorial Day weekend outbreak in Kansas and Oklahoma. He has chased
each year but didn't experience another outbreak until 2004 as his
chase vacations usually occurred during death ridges. His video has
been shown on a number of documentaries, and he also does stringer
video for The Weather Channel and other networks. His storm and
butterfly photos have been used in several books, magazines and
advertisements. Bill is one of the few chasers to have chased and
seen tornadoes in Virginia. He is an allergist in Richmond,
Virginia. Outside of work and chasing, he enjoys spending time with
his wife. They have traveled extensively including recent trips to
Italy and Scotland. Bill’s other interests include hiking,
nature photography (butterflies) and running. He is on the board of
Virginia Opera. Bill spent two years researching Eastern United
States tornado video and obtaining permission to use that video on a
DVD compilation. Eastern Fury, the 2 hour and 15 minute DVD of
mostly amateur and some media video has been enjoyed by many
chasers, spotters and researchers. After only seeing a couple of
tornadoes in 2007, he is hoping for a more successful 2008 season. |
