Melissa Moon is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and is currently a contracted meteorologist working with 19th-century weather data at the National Climatic Data Center in Asheville, North Carolina.  As an undergraduate, she worked as a student research assistant at the National Severe Storms Laboratory, and participated in weather-related field studies, such as TELEX.  Having grown up in the Great Plains, Melissa saw her first tornado at a very young age, and officially started chasing in the spring of 2003.  When she is not working at NCDC or chasing, Melissa enjoys writing music, hiking/being outdoors, traveling, animals, reading, and being involved with various church ministries.
